An alien with physical properties that allow him to be practically godlike to the people of Earth, Kal-El was sent to Earth by the dying planet of Krypton where he was adopted by a family in the rural town of Smallville and became known as Clark Kent, and later, as he slowly grew attuned to his alien powers and persona, he came to become the legendary hero Superman.

Pre-Convergence[]

Some time into the middle of the sixth season of Smallville, Clark continues to struggle with the aftermath of his break-up with his ex-girlfriend, Lana Lang, and the uneasiness he feels with his rival, Lex Luthor. Suddenly, one day, he was kidnapped by Umbrella.

Plot Involvement[]

Genesis[]

Clark was one of the three traitors brainwashed by Diablo to invoke the murder game. When he awoke, he developed a friendship with Riesbyfe Stridberg and Lucio Correia dos Santos, and an uneasy rivalry with Shirou Yusa and Setsuna. With a device planted in his head that forced him to obey Umbrella and restricted his powers, he was forced to fight S.H.I.E.L.D. on Umbrella's behalf. During this fight, he targeted Thor Odinson, but was quickly incapacitated by the joint efforts of S.H.I.E.L.D. after they discovered Umbrella's true plans.

Following this defeat, Clark, alongside the other survivors, were taken in by Nick Fury, who disabled the devices located in the survivors' heads. Once he awoke, Clark learned that the only way to return home was to sneak back in through the Umbrella facility and locate the device that brought her there in the first place, the Tesseract.

After a brief moment's rest, Clark and the rest of the group set off to infiltrate the Umbrella facility, lead by Scott Lang and Wanda Maximoff. However, things went awry as one of Diablo's other traitors, Lucifer Morningstar, had killed Scott and Alice Twilight. Unfortunately, the group had wrongfully thought that James Proudstar was the traitor instead.

Following this, Wanda's powers needed time to regenerate, so the group split further into the facility. Clark was one of the survivors who opted to stay behind and protect Wanda, and helped the group defeat the Nemesis monster that killed four of their own members.

When the groups reunited, another one of the traitors, Azura, had killed Naomi Kimishima and Inspector Navel. The group correctly guessed it was Azura who was responsible, and Wanda undid Diablo's mind control.

The group split up once again, Clark entering Drug Manufacturing where he came into contact with Morpheus D. Duvall and helped defeat him in battle alongside the others in the group. During this time, Clark got angered by Shirou, who had killed Duvall instead of merely incapacitating him.

Once the groups reconvened, Diablo's mind control over Clark took ahold and he killed 3 more people: Ada Wong, Doremi the Meloetta, & Jabber the Riolu. Unknowing of his crimes, Clark assisted in the investigation, however they wrongfully believed Jinx was the person responsible for the crimes.

The group, once again, split up, with Clark going down the East Hall to meet an old enemy, Lex Luthor, who presented the group with a sadistic choice, execute a hostage, Lana Lang, or suffer three murders. Against Clark's wishes, the group decided to kill Lana, with Shirou being the one to pull the trigger. After this, Lex infected Clark and the rest of the East Hall group with a sample of the T-Virus for "insurance".

Once again, murder struck, as Lucifer had killed both Azura and Cullen Bloodstone. Fortunately, the group correctly guessed Lucifer was the one responsible, and Diablo's control over him was lifted.

The group split into two once again, Clark heading down to the Testing room, where he encountered William Birkin. William explained his motives, that what he and his wife Annette were doing with the Tesseract is something that could help bring back their dead daughter Sherry. William informed the group of his next plans, which prompted the group to follow him into the labs, where Diablo took control of Clark in order for him to murder Senna and Blake Dormi.

Still unaware of his crimes, Clark assisted the group in the investigation. To his horror, the evidence pointed to him being the final traitor, and as Diablo's control was lifted, he felt conflicted as he was staunchly against killing. However, as he was processing this, William infected himself with the G-Virus, aiming to kill the group. However, Clark and the rest of the group succeeded in taking him down.

The group that was replicated was soon reunited with those who had never died, and entered the vault where the Tesseract was located, where they finally encountered the true mastermind, Diablo. Clark and the group attempted to fight him, yet his power was too much for the group to defeat him, and he easily overcame them. However, an alternative Albert Wesker utilized a secret switch to send Clark and the rest of the group into a coma, where they would be cryogenically frozen and guarded by Oswell E. Spencer until the end of the Coalition Civil War, where she would be discovered by a joint task force between the Coalition and the ODMA.

Following his awakening, Clark happily reunited with Lucio, but his reunion with Riesbyfe is more bittersweet, as while she managed to escape being put into storage and under the watch of Oswell E. Spencer like everyone else, her memory of the event is scattered and hazed due to her awakening at the hands of the M.E.U., who had salvaged her pod. Clark also incriminates Shirou for killing Lana, and Lex Luthor for his activities in the event, causing the two of them to be taken into custody by the Coalition.

Later, he brings Lucio to his home world in order to show him the Fortress of Solitude, where the two of them have a small rest, before Clark accompanies Lucio to his own world, where he currently remains, as Clark feels "poisoned" after the influence of Diablo had scarred him, and thus feels powerless, coming to believe that perhaps doing some good work with Lucio and his team would be able to clear his conscience.

Character Relationships[]

  • Riesbyfe Stridberg - A character from Melty Blood who chronologically first appeared in Genesis. The two of them formed a close relationship together over the course of the event, with Clark being more openly friendly towards the normally reserved knight, who in turn offered sympathies when a tragedy had occurred that affected Clark, such as the death of Lana Lang. It is implied that Clark holds a one-sided attraction towards her.
  • Lucio - A character from Overwatch who also debuted in Genesis. Clark also developed a close friendship with Lucio, their personalities complementing the other fairly well.
  • Shirou Yusa - A character from Dies Irae who also first appeared in Genesis. Clark developed a bitter rivalry with Shirou, as the latter held an amoral personality that conflicted greatly with Clark's altruistic nature, causing them to clash on multiple occasions.
  • Cagliostro - A character from Granblue Fantasy who also appeared in Genesis. Cagliostro and Clark are often seen butting heads in a metaphorical sense starting from Chapter 3 of Genesis, disagreeing with each other's ways.
  • Lex Luthor - A major character from DC Comics who also debuted in Genesis. The two of them are uneasy acquaintances with each other, unknowingly destined to become bitter enemies, even moreso than they already are, in their home worlds. In the Murder Games, this bitter relationship has only become more toxic with Lex killing Lana, Clark's ex-girlfriend who later became Lex's own estranged wife.
  • Lana Lang - Another character from DC Comics who appeared in Genesis. Clark and Lana were high school sweethearts and their relationship extended into their college years, but Clark's responsibilities as a super hero and keeping it a secret caused friction between him and Lana, causing them to break up and subsequently, Lana to marry Lex. In Genesis, she appears held captive by Lex, who gives the ultimatum of either her life or suffering three Traitor kills.
  • Martha Kent - Another character from DC Comics who appeared in Remember. As Clark's adoptive mother who raised him amongst the people of Earth, Martha and her husband Jonathan were instrumental in forming Clark into the young man he grew to be, imparting him with the values and morals to become a hero.
  • Chloe Sullivan - Another character from DC Comics who also appeared in Remember. Clark and Chloe have been close friends since high school. With Chloe heading the school paper, the Smallville Torch, her deep interest in the many oddities of Smallville often put her in danger, only to be saved many times by Clark. Inevitably, Chloe ended up learning about Clark's true nature by their last year at Smallville High, and the two have remained close friends and allies.
