Canon[]

Doppo is a major character from Bungo Stray Dogs.

A member of the Armed Detective Company, dedicated to solving crimes that the ordinary police force are unable to deal with, Doppo is considered one of the higher-ups in the organization, his primary role being "detective" and taking it upon himself to oversee a number of the company's organizations and workings.

Pre-Convergence[]

Though it is not stated in The Life of Shiki Tohno or afterwards when or how he came to work under the Coalition, but given that his comrade, Akiko Yosano, also from the Armed Detective Agency, appears as a member as well, it can be implied that they have been members for some time, especially considering his position as a part of the Administration.

Plot Involvement[]

The Life of Shiki Tohno[]

Seventh Chapter - The Ideal of Shiki Tohno[]

Appearing halfway through the chapter, shortly after Shiki had become acquainted with Akiko, he recognizes the boy's name from the incident report of the Arch Demon's Downfall, and later, decides to take him on a small tour of the Coalition HQ. However, his tour is rather lackluster, and when inquired about it, Doppo states that his mind is actually more focused on mentally revising his personal schedule, due to Shiki's unexpected sudden appearance.

Ending the tour at the Recreational Library, while Shiki goes through the many books available, Doppo inquires on how Shiki had even gotten to the Coalition HQ in the first place, noting how he wasn't a true member. Doppo finds himself alarmed when Shiki proceeded to reply by saying that he took it off the corpse of VECTOR after his grueling battle, which suggests that if Umbrella Agents have multiversal traveling devices that are able to freely access the headquarters, then there must be a mole within the organization.

Civil War[]

Doppo is a comparatively prominent background figure within the Coalition Civil War, generally seen taking the side of Makoto Naegi and favoring the regulation of Ilona's power, in contrast to his comrade Akiko Yosano favoring Kyoko Kirigiri's faction instead.

Despite being on the same faction however, Doppo had butt heads with Revolver Ocelot a few times over the course of the event, most notably during the debates over what to do with Ilona, believing Ocelot's attitudes towards others to be unprofessional and needlessly mean-spirited, to the point where Doppo felt the need to attempt to stop Ocelot when the latter would pull a gun on Shiki Tohno, who had been actively speaking against him. In the final chapter, after the reveal that Ocelot had turned out to be a triple agent with true allegiances to the Revanchist, Ocelot shot Doppo in the shoulder before attempting to make his escape, thus rendering Doppo injured and unable to participate in the grand battle against the forces of Mother and the Revanchist.

In the aftermath, it is presumed that Doppo continues his activities as a Coalition Member and heals from his wound soon after, later confirmed in his later appearances.

Right Hand of the Magic God[]

Since the Coalition Civil War, Doppo had been promoted among the Coalition's ranks following the resignation of Kieran and the self-demotion of Makoto. Despite siding against her back in the civil war, Doppo is now a close aide of Kyoko's as she becomes the new leader.

In the Othinus Incident, Doppo plays a consistently background role, helping to coordinate the mission from Knowhere, the Coalition's new base of operations following the civil war, while the team embarks on their mission to track down Othinus, DIO, and Pucci.

In an intermission set concurrently with the end of the fourth chapter, Doppo is seen in a deep panic, screaming at his colleague Akiko Yosano, stationed in the city of Avalon, to evacuate the world immediately with no context. Before he can explain his reasoning, his communication link to Akiko is suddenly cut out, and before long, the entire world of Avalon is destroyed right before Akiko's eyes, before she too is destroyed, as it is later revealed that Othinus at that moment had managed to become a true Magic God and destroy the multiverse.

In the fifth chapter, when Othinus successfully attains her goal of becoming a true Magic God and destroys the multiverse, she creates a new multiverse in which the team are considered traitors to the Coalition who had been Revanchist agents the entire time and killed Makoto Naegi. It is under this pretense that Doppo and other Coalition agents detain the team, before the team manages to eventually escape detainment, prompting Othinus to casually destroy the multiverse again and create a new one.

By the end of the Othinus Incident, in which the multiverse is restored for the most part, Doppo is returned back to normal, with no memory of the incident past the fourth chapter.

Fighting of the Spirit[]

Similar to his role in the Othinus Incident, Doppo plays a minor background role during the Revanchist War, helping to coordinate the wide-spanning mission.

Between the Lines[]

Second Chapter - Fall of the Keeper[]

Shortly after the third chapter of Fighting of the Spirit, in which the Coalition's mission to retrieve Pluto from Silent Earth ended in failure following Pluto's untimely death, while the rest of the team attempts to recover, Will Vandom barges into the Briefing Room of Knowhere, interrupting a conversation between the Coalition Administration planning their next course of action, alongside Ludger, Touma, Ollerus, and Fiamma of the Right.

Wasting no time, Will quickly begins breaking into a rant about the dire turn of their mission, met with repeated failures as the Revanchist had consistently managed to stay one step ahead of them. Despite the administration's attempts to soothe her anger, it does little to calm the woman down. Before long, Will even begins to blame Othinus for the mission's failure, erroneously accusing her of tricking the Coalition into accepting her and leaking information of their activities back to the Revanchist. As a dark aura begins to envelop Will, it becomes apparent that she had been overtaken with malevolence after the journey to Silent Earth, releasing her true feelings and removing all of her inhibitions.

Despite the administration's attempts to refute her claims and further calm the situation, it does not take long before Will becomes outright hostile, physically lashing out at Ludger and attempting to kill Othinus right in the middle of the room. From there, a brutal fight breaks out from with Touma, Doppo, Ollerus, and Ludger against Will, her corruption taking physical form as her body transforms mildly due to the influence of the malevolence. In the end of the grueling battle however, Will is finally defeated by the combined efforts of the four, and is later incarcerated in a holding cell indefinitely.

Zero Hour[]

Doppo makes a brief appearance in the aftermath of the Zero Hour, speaking to Riesbyfe Stridberg during the celebration of the Revanchist War's end on Avalon, where it is also announced by Makoto Naegi and Kyoko Kirigiri that the Coalition will be disbanding, and that members still intending to be involved in protecting the multiverse are suggested to transfer over to ODMA.

During his conversation with Riesbyfe, Doppo remarks that he is not entirely sure whether or not he will join ODMA, depending on what his close allies intend to do, but also comments that he is not sure he is content to retire from his multiversal duties. When inquired by Riesbyfe, Doppo also comments on the status of Revolver Ocelot and Thor, who are still at large, vowing that one way or another, both of them will be found and tried for their crimes one day.
