Muzét is a character from Tales of Xillia. She made her debut in Fighting of the Spirit.

Canon[]

Muzét is a supporting character from Tales of Xillia and its follow-up, Tales of Xillia 2.

She is a Great Spirit who is tasked with dominion over dimensions and time, having grown up as an older sister to Milla Maxwell, and thus developing a close bond between the two of them. However, to ensure that knowledge of different worlds did not reach humankind at large, Muzét was assigned to take residence in the world of Elympios to keep it from crossing over to the parallel world of Rieze Maxia.

It should be noted that the background of this incarnation of Muzét, as well as certain other characters from Tales of Xillia depicted here, have been altered to fit the setting of the Convergence Series.

Pre-Convergence[]

After the events of Tales of Xillia, in which the schism between the worlds of Rieze Maxia and Elympios was dropped and the two worlds were united as one, the full ramifications of the schism was revealed. This universe acted as a special holding grounds for many of the Great Spirits, who in truth held order over much of the multiverse. As the Great Spirits, Maxwell, Chronos, and Origin wished to withhold the knowledge of the multiverse from all universes, they first created the schism in response to the Kresnik family learning of the greater multiverse. The schism isolated Elympios from Rieze Maxia and isolated both worlds from the multiverse as a whole. Elympios was essentially punished in this manner, doomed to die as a world abandoned by spirits.

Rieze Maxia entered into a period of having to deal with what it meant to be one universe out of many, while Milla Maxwell learned just how far her new duties extended. It was Origin's duty to oversee the process of rebirths across the multiverse and to make sure it never went out of balance. Milla acted as a liaison between Origin and the Reapers in order for them to meet the right quotas for rebirth. Muzét presumably aided Milla in these duties, given her position as a Great Spirit of Dimensions, overseeing the roots of the multiverse.

Plot Involvement[]

Fighting of the Spirit[]

Muzét appears as a supporting figure in the Revanchist War.

During the fifth chapter of the event, as the Revanchist closed in on their multiverse-wide hunt for the Great Spirits, Muzét is mentioned to have traveled back in time to the events of the Fiamma Incident in order to hide from the Revanchist. Thus, a front-line team is assigned to follow her back in time and recover her in order to ensure her safety. The team's mission relieves ODMA's Time Squad of their original mission to track down a time-displaced Junko Enoshima, who also happened to be located at this point in time, as ODMA had deduced that Muzét and Junko not only happen to be in the same point in time, but also in the same location.

The team's search for her and Junko eventually lead them to the Windowless Building of Academy City, which they can only enter with the teleportation ability of Awaki Musujime, the assigned guard of the building. Musujime herself is under attack from Revanchist forces who had also managed to follow Muzét through time, sending operatives Cinder Fall and Akira Nishikiyama to retrieve her, leading to a battle between the two parties before the Revanchist agents are effectively defeated.

With that, Musujime teleports the team into the Windowless Building, finally allowing the team to meet Muzét and Junko, the former of the two playfully bantering with them as well as reuniting with Milla.

In the sixth chapter, as the Revanchist attack multiple locations at once including the worlds of Avalon and Ash, Muzét appears on Ash to fight alongside Coalition forces, reuniting with Gaius during the grand battle taking place there. During the battle, she fights RK-900, a Revanchist-controlled robot, and manages to use her power of electricity manipulation to tamper with his programming to break him free of the Revanchist's control, before convincing him to defect and fight on the Coalition's behalf.

Zero Hour[]

Though Muzét herself was not present during the main story, she makes a brief appearance in the aftermath of the event, mourning the deaths of Jude Mathis and Rowen Ilbert from during the Revanchist War and lamenting that she'd missed the chance to truly say goodbye to either of them. Before long though, she vows along with the others present to work as hard as they can to preserve the state of the multiverse in order to ensure that their sacrifices were not for nothing.

Character Relationships[]

  • Milla Maxwell - A major protagonist from Tales of Xillia who debuted in Monokuma's Awakening. A fellow Great Spirit, Muzét is Milla's sister, and though they had previously come into conflict with each other in the past, the two care deeply for each other. They are seen reuniting and allying with each other during the Revanchist War.
  • Jude Mathis - Another major protagonist of Tales of Xillia who debuted in School Daze under the Illusion identity of Jake Cline. Muzét has a curious relationship with Jude; for a short period of time when they first met during the events of Tales of Xillia, Muzét came to rely on Jude implicitly for purpose, even going far enough to "tether" with Jude, which is regarded as a sign of close intimacy according to herself and Milla. However, just as easily, Muzét later comes into conflict with Jude and others when Muzét resolves to follow Gaius's ambition to attain absolute power over the kingdom. Though they came into such conflict, Muzét retains a manner of affection for Jude, as stated when she recalls him during the Revanchist War.
  • Gaius - Another character from Tales of Xillia who debuted in Civil War. The two of them share a deep, interpersonal relationship, forged in part due to Muzét's co-dependent personality. In the past, Muzét followed Gaius's will and ambition to attain the godly power of Maxwell for himself, as his ambition gave her a purpose in life. After the ambitions failed thanks to the intervention of Jude, Milla, and others, Muzét and Gaius went their separate ways to find redemption, though they reunite with each other during the Revanchist War.
